    WHERE THE WILDLIFE ROAM

Home to an astonishing 960 wildlife species, Colorado boasts one of the most diverse and abundant wildlife populations in North America. Wildlife professionals dedicate time to activities such as habitat protection efforts, wildlife management and research programs to ensure these species succeed. Colorado Parks and Wildlife does not receive general tax dollars to fund its wildlife conservation programs. In fact, the vast majority of these efforts are paid for when sportspeople purchase licenses and gear. Let’s get to know Colorado’s wonderful wildlife.

Conservation

Simply stated, conservation is defined as the “wise use” and active management of wildlife and natural resources. Biologists study animals and their habitats in order to achieve specific and measurable outcomes. This includes balancing wildlife populations, protecting threatened and endangered species, reintroducing certain species, and protecting habitats. It’s a wild job, but someone’s got to do it.
